Terms of use
The rules for this website. The rules for actually working with us live in the engagement letter, which is a different and much more specific document.
Last updated 12 August 2026
This site is information, not advice
Everything on this website is general information about Oregon family law. It is not legal advice about your situation, it cannot be, and you should not act on it without talking to a lawyer about the specific facts of your case. Law changes, and a page written in 2026 may be wrong by the time you read it.
Reading this does not make us your lawyers
No lawyer and client relationship is created by reading this website, by sending us a form, or by an initial phone conversation. That relationship begins only when we have checked for conflicts, agreed to act, and both signed a written engagement letter. Until that happens, please do not send us anything you would be harmed by us not being able to keep confidential.
Deadlines are yours until we are engaged
Oregon family law has real deadlines and many of them are shorter than people expect. If you have been served with papers, the time limit on that document is running whether or not you have heard back from us. Call rather than email, and if we cannot help in time, tell another lawyer immediately.
Results
Any outcome described on this site is an example. It does not predict what will happen in your matter. Family law outcomes depend on facts, on the other party and on the judge, and no honest lawyer will promise you a result.
Client stories
The client quotes on this site are written for a demonstration build and are illustrative rather than verbatim statements from named individuals. On a live version of this site, every testimonial would be a real one, published with written permission and with details changed only where necessary to protect a family's privacy.
Links to other places
Where we link to the Oregon Judicial Department, Legal Aid Services of Oregon, the county facilitator or anybody else, we do so because we think they are useful. We do not control those sites and we are not responsible for what is on them.
Using this site
You are welcome to read, print and share anything here for your own use. Please do not republish it as your own, scrape it at volume, or use it to train a model without asking us first. The text, photographs and design are ours.
Accessibility
This site aims at WCAG 2.2 AA. If something here is difficult for you to use, tell us at hello@harborfamilylaw.com and we will fix it and get you the information another way in the meantime.
